New potential financial disaster for Britain

I just sent emails with this approximate text to various British politicians including Nick Clegg and Ben Bradshaw:

I'm emailing you directly because I'm very worried about a new  potential financial disaster for Britain. Looming on the horizon is the question how the changeover to Universal Credit will be handled. If benefit claimants receive their money a little bit earlier than usual because of the changeover there will be no particular worries. On the other hand, if claimants receive their money a bit later than usual there is a potential disaster as enormous numbers of people across the country would then have a shortfall in paying their rent, their credit card repayments, their many other bills and outgoings. The knock-on effect of this would affect banks, credit companies, landlords and every part of the country's economy. It seems to me that there are still a few months in which to avoid disaster.

Sincerely,

Peter D. Smith, Exeter, Devon.

Hummadruz

I was just reading about hummadruz on the Northern Earth website and I think I may have the answer. The info about the phenomenon is here:

http://www.northernearth.co.uk/permhum.htm

And here's my (possible) solution:

Probably caused by a person developing a freak sensitivity to their own nervous system. Hearing the low hum which comes from the electricity in the human nervous system vibrating below the lowest notes on a piano.

The nervous system's electrical activity vibrates in the range of 0.5 Hz up to frequencies sometimes in excess of 33 Hz. The lowest musical note on an 88 key piano keyboard is 27.5 Hz (lowest 'A' note - sub-contra-octave) which sounds very low and dark and mysterious but in terms of the human nervous system that note is a very high rate of human electricity. We only get up to that sort of frequency during hyperactivity or anxiety. These frequencies are called "High Beta". So the rest of our electrical activity, when we aren't hyperactive or anxious is in the range of the ELF (Extremely Low Frequency). For instance, one octave below the lowest note on the 88-key piano would be a note of 'A' vibrating at about 13.75 Hz, which is smack dab on the borderline between Alpha and Beta waves. Alpha is when the nervous system is dreaming or meditating, Beta is normal, everyday consciousness which focusses on work and ordinary things. A chromatic musical scale of 13 notes from a note of 'A' at that borderline of Alpha/Beta extends upward, culminating in a top 'A' which is the lowest key on the piano.

Human hearing is able to hear down as low as about 16 hz, which is within the Beta range. So we cannot actually hear sound a low as Alpha waves, but we can sense them as rhythmic feelings.

This information is helpful in terms of sensing within a room or a space of some kind. Also helpful with understanding the use of hymns in church or the Sanskrit 'OM'. Nervous system states vibrating at rates lower than Alpha level are into Theta, which is about 4 to 7 hz and is the level of Shamanic trances, deep meditation and sleep.

Please Don't Vote UKIP

I can't believe that bloody UKIP are gaining more votes. This is very worrying. I mean they're idiots! We need the European Union. I know the EU has faults but abandoning Europe isn't the answer. I can only see three reasonable directions for us to go in: (1) We stay in the EU and push for major reforms to make the EU democratic and accountable or (2) We talk to some other disenchanted EU member countries and form our own, breakaway, European Union which will be democratic and accountable from the beginning. Little by little we would win over the remaining EU states and, in the end, it will have been a velvet revolution for Europe or (3) I suppose there's the EFTA. What would happen if we were in EFTA instead of EU? Most people I've spoken to in Britain don't seem to be aware that EFTA exists or what the issues are. The EFTA people claim that EFTA countries are richer than EU countries and the people richer within EFTA states. However, Iceland is an EFTA country and they don't seem to be doing too well, do they? It's a question of who to believe. And I mean, what's the alternative? UKIP would destroy us AND Europe by taking us back to the days when European disputes were settled by fighting wars.

We need Europe, one way or another. Please don't vote for UKIP.

A few years ago I spoke to some UKIP people who had a stall in Exeter High Street. I had a big row with them. The bloody idiots thought we should "keep the traditional British Pound". I had to break it to them, not so gently, that we can't keep the "traditional British Pound" because we got rid of that in 1971 when we decimalised it into a Euro-Pound with 100 pennies instead of 20 shillings. The bloody idiots are trying to lock the stable door after we've sold the horse for scrap. And the Euro-Pound with 100 pence makes much more sense than than the old 240 pence model. The Euro-Pound makes it easier to trade with other decimal based currencies such as Canada and the USA.

UKIP are just exploiting people's ignorance.
